The median age of owner-occupied homes in the U.S. is 42 years. New York has the oldest homes with a median age of 64 years, followed by Massachusetts and Rhode Island at 59 years. In the District of Columbia, half of the homes are over 80 years old. Newer homes are mostly in Sun Belt states, with Nevada at 25 years and Texas at 28 years median age. South Carolina, Georgia, and Arizona also have relatively newer homes.
