In April 2025, U.S. foreclosure filings rose to 36,033, a 0.4% monthly and 13.9% yearly increase, with one in every 3,950 homes affected. South Carolina had the highest rate, followed by Illinois and Florida. Some states, including South Carolina and Maryland, saw significant annual declines in foreclosures. Major metro areas with the most REOs included Chicago, Atlanta, New York, Houston, and Philadelphia.
